Dermal fillers are injectable treatments designed to restore volume, smooth out lines, and enhance facial contours for a youthful, refreshed appearance. Made from hyaluronic acid — a substance naturally found in the skin — these fillers can be used to lift cheeks, define the jawline, plump lips, and soften wrinkles. At Elite Beauty Medi Spa, our expert injectors use precise techniques to create natural-looking, balanced results that enhance your features without looking overdone.
Pre-Care
Treatment Overview & Planning
Dermal fillers are injectable treatments used to restore volume, enhance facial features, and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Most fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the body. Results are temporary and typically last from 6 months up to 2 years depending on the product and treatment area. A consultation is required to determine the most appropriate filler type and treatment plan. Patients must inform Elite Beauty Medi spa of their full medical history, including allergies, autoimmune conditions, medications, and any previous adverse reactions to injectables.
Medications, Supplements & Bruising Risk
To reduce the risk of bruising and bleeding, avoid blood thinning medications and supplements for 7 to 10 days prior to treatment if medically permitted. This includes Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve, NSAIDs, Vitamin E, Vitamin D, Fish Oil, Omega 3, Garlic, Ginkgo Biloba, Ginseng, St John’s Wort, flax, and other herbal supplements. Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before and after treatment. Arnica may be taken prior to treatment to help minimize bruising. Always consult your physician before stopping any prescribed medications.
Health Conditions & Contraindications
Treatment should be postponed if you have any active infection, cold, flu, virus, open wounds, acne, rashes, or inflammation in the treatment area. Dermal fillers are not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or if you have known allergies to filler components. Inform your provider if you have a history of cold sores, as antiviral medication may be required prior to treatment. Patients with recent illness, immunizations, dental procedures, surgeries, tattoos, or permanent makeup within the past 2 to 4 weeks may need to reschedule treatment. Patients on immunosuppressive or biologic medications must inform their provider prior to treatment.
Skin Preparation & Skincare
Avoid using retinoids, retinol, glycolic acid, alpha hydroxy acids, or other active skincare products for at least 2 days before treatment. Arrive with clean skin free of makeup, lotions, or creams in the treatment area.
Timing & Planning
Schedule your treatment at least 2 weeks prior to any important social events to allow time for swelling or bruising to resolve. Avoid dental work, immunizations, cosmetic procedures, or skin treatments for at least 2 weeks before and after filler injections to reduce the risk of complications.
Day of Treatment & Expectations
A topical anesthetic may be applied prior to injections for comfort. During treatment, small amounts of filler are injected into targeted areas. You may feel mild pressure or discomfort during the procedure. Mild swelling or redness may appear immediately after injections. You acknowledge that outcomes are not guaranteed and depend on individual factors, as well as adherence to pre and post care instructions.
